Carboxyl polyethylene glycol silicon is a surface active polyethylene glycol derivative modified by silicon and carboxyl at both ends. It is used to modify glass, silica gel and other materials through the reaction between hydroxyl ethoxy, methoxy silicon and other surfaces. Through activation, carboxyl group can react with amino group to form stable amide bond, and can also esterificate with hydroxyl group. PEGylation can greatly inhibit the nonspecific binding of charged molecular modified surfaces. They are widely used in the development of medical devices, biological or biocompatible materials.

Cooh-peg silane is a surface active PEGylation reagent, with triethoxysilane and carboxyl groups connected at the ends respectively. Carboxy polyethylene glycol silicon can modify the surface of glass, silica and other materials through the reaction of hydroxyl and alkoxysilyl. At the same time, carboxyl group can form amide bond with amino group and esterification with hydroxyl group. The peg crosslinker between alkoxysilane and carboxyl group has good water solubility, small steric hindrance and high reactivity. Compared with other organosilane molecules, silane PEG derivatives have hydrophilicity and biocompatibility. All silylation reactions can be carried out in aqueous solution without adding any organic solvent. Alkoxy groups are easily hydrolyzed in aqueous solution and react at room temperature for 30 ~ 60min.
