Mal peg MAL is a bifunctional peg derivative. Maleimide peg is a sulfhydryl (mercaptan / SH) based reactive peg derivative, which can be used to selectively modify proteins, peptides or any other surface with available sulfhydryl groups. The reaction between maleimide and mercaptan is easy at pH 6.5 ~ 7.5 to form a stable sulfide bond.

The reaction between maleimide and mercaptan is easy at pH 6.5 ~ 7.5 to form a stable sulfide bond. Materials required: PEGylated buffer, PBS buffer, pH 7 or other pH 7 mercaptan free buffer. Maleimide stock solution: 100 mg in 1 ml coupling buffer, washing solution: distilled water or any aqueous buffer. Reaction step: dissolve the target substance in the binding buffer. Estimate the concentration of mercaptan group on the target substance, add maleimide peg stock solution to the target conjugate, and maintain the final concentration at least 10 mg / ml. The best combination requires 10 ~ 50 moles of excess peg maleimide, and the mixture is stirred at room temperature for 2 ~ 4 hours, or overnight at 4 ℃.
